Our Unplugged Vacation

Every summer we, as a family, require a little unplugged time. Two parents, two boys, and five days with no tv, computer or mobile phone access. This year we rented a cabin at Lake Hope State Park and spent a little time doing things that don't require electricity, or wireless, like...

Exploring

Canoeing

Swimming

Making food in fire

Learning

Hiking

Growing

Picnicking

Practicing patience

Discovering

Climbing

Roasting

Creating

Capturing

Laughing and Loving

  2. That photo was taken during a hummingbird feeding experience at the state park. You sit there, quietly, for like two hours waiting to see if they might make an appearance. The good thing is after the first three waves of people gave up, things quieted down. No birds came to any of us, but we got to see a lot of them in the tree feeders, plus this one guy had like 7 come to him. My children sat for an hour and a half of this...it was very Zen. Not hard on a beautiful, sunny, breezy day.

  3. It looks like a wonderful time away. We never got away this year like we had planned. I can feel the need for it too but it just didn't work out that way. Your photos are just beautiful and I can feel the peace coming from each one.
