Fall Treats: Doughnuts and Cider

We have a little family rule about doughnuts. Twice a year and that is it. Yesterday was a lovely, windy but sunny fall day, so we decided to go for a hike in the afternoon. Knowing this, Zack and I stopped at the grocery store on our way home from drum lesson to surprise Ken and Nate with an assortment of doughnuts and cider for breakfast. I was proud of us because we are trying to save money, and I was tempted to go to Tim Horton's drive through AND Starbucks! That would have cost a bundle. Instead our little Kroger trip was under $10 for cider, cocoa and doughnuts, plus we got a ton of exercise to burn off the doughnuts! And let me tell you, they are extra awesome when you know that you'll be waiting four months until Fat Tuesday and your next doughnut!
