Pinewood Derby

Had a blast yesterday.
My job was helping to keep the cars in order between heats.
I even got a cool pit crew badge.
My Nathan came in 3rd!
And my Zack, he did his best
And had fun.
Both boys built their own cars
With minimal help from Dad.
My car, Extra Crispy,
Was voted "most shocking."
My den had 100% participation.
I'm a proud Mama Tiger.

  2. I love scouting! Good family fun! My boys told me they want to make Eagle someday. I'd love that!

    1. That would be great! My son will be the 4th generation in our family to make Eagle if he gets there- my grandfather was one of the first Eagle Scouts ever in 1919. Not to put any pressure on him or anything ;), but he's the kind of kid that will stick with it.

    2. I don't know if your grandfather kept any of his memerobilia, but if he did you should post up some pics! That's amazing! I think it's cool that they are thinking about it now. My husband has always said that a boy needs a mission.

    3. Yes, as a matter of fact we have almost all of it- the Eagle badge, the merit badges and their original cards, and two pocket size books. We had a hard time figuring out what some of the merit badges were- they have long been retired. I put it all in binders and shadowboxes for my dad who keeps it.

  3. In my experience, getting it firmly in mind while they are Cubs will help carry them to the goal when they're older. During some of Sam's waffling times, I would remind him how long he had been saying he wanted to achieve this, and it did seem to remind him that this was a goal of his own choosing.

    1. Yeah, Zack is coming out of his waffling blast. After initially saying he didn't want to go to resident camp he suddenly changed his mind. Boys are very hard to read!
