Insta Easter

A sleepy Easter morning for us.
They took me to Cracker Barrel for my birthday breakfast.
We've passed much of the afternoon snuggled up with books.
That bunny filled the baskets with *just enough* candy.
The younger son did a little egg drop engineering.
The husband has a pot of chili simmering.
Very much enjoying a day to putter.

It seriously never gets old.
Getting outside and just enjoying each others company.
It helps when the sun finally comes out.
In other news, I turn 41 tomorrow.
It's been a good year.

That's better

The sun is out. Folks have their car windows down even though it's still only 41 degrees.
I guess we're all more than ready for signs of spring.
The grass outside is still quite brown, but the birds are and busy.
I even saw a couple pairs of mallards scuttling through the neighborhood.

Spring break

Yup. More snow.
We decided to stay home for vacation this year and chill out.
We did take a trip to the National Air Force Museum in Dayton.
Went with the scouts and had a lot of fun.
Saw Frank Lloyd Wright's Prescott House on the way home.
Today was a scramble of play dates.
Now a fresh coffee and my new issue of Taproot.

Is it spring yet?

Lots of pics,I know. Feels like I finally woke up this morning and got moving for the first time all winter on some projects I've put off. Like Freecycling that elliptical we never use, my latest bridesmaid dress and the kids' Thomas table. (Sniff.) I got my seeds started, finally. The boys invited a friend over to play outside, and they should really enjoy this *balmy* 45 degree weather because they are calling for 3-6" of snow Sunday! Spring break started today and we will be back n the 30s much of the week! I still haven't seen a sprig of forsythia in bloom so I'm being patient. Looks like. Will be getting my peas and lettuce and onions in a little late this year. So be it. I can be patient.

30 seconds

Every week I try to add just 30 seconds more to my running intervals.
This is new territory for me.  I started working out last October.
But really dug in last month.  I never thought I could do this.
Just run.  Just do what the other folks are doing.
Every day I feel myself becoming what I was meant to be.
Feels awesome.  Amazing the difference 30 seconds can make.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Low key day for us.
A trip out for new cleats and shin guards and swim goggles.
A kids eat free day at Steak-n-Shake.
A Starbucks for the parents day.
A big pile of laundry day.
Not the fun loving March 17th of my younger years.
13 years ago today the husband and I had our first date.
Things are different now, but nice.
I never could figure what green beer had to do
With an Irish monk, anyway.
My window shamrocks have started to bloom
Their delicate white flowers.
Man, I need spring to spring, already!

Yes more hiking

We hiked with the pack today.
A nick of time thing.
For two weeks now I've been really feeling the winter blahs.
Days like today remind me spring is nearly here.

Spent our Saturday at the Maple Syrup fest up at he local scout camp.
I love meeting new people.
They had pancakes available all day.
And of course you could buy the syrup.
We got to see them making it.
And we also saw Civil War reenact-ors
Who were kind enough to let me fire a musket.
And we threw hatchets and shot BBs and saw an Indian dance troupe.
I didn't get nearly enough pictures!

Linking with Amanda.

When the phone rings early can only mean...
Snow Day!!!
Yesterday I picked up a movie from the library. And I splurged on an UNO deck too. Weatherman says its the heavy, wet snow. So we will be able to build s proper snowman, first one in quite a while.
Now the only problem is
I can't get back to sleep.

Retreat in progress

I've been busy
But not really.
Anxiety has me pinging.
It's unpredictable stuff, really.
My days are focused:
Green juice
Working out
Lots of water
Real food
Soothing tea
Devices off
Naps when needed
My trusty journal
I guess it's helping.
It's certainly needed.
Big snow is coming,
It's a last retreat.
Spring will be along soon.
